Hands down our favorite pre-mixed, hardening woodfiller.

If you’ve read our bossy article about using woodfiller on hardwood floors, you know that we have a love-hate relationship with filler. But, in the cases where filler is necessary, this is the one to use.

It is a true chameleon, which means it changes color as the surrounding wood does when it is coated with polyurethanes, stains and especially Rubio Monocoat. And Timbermate experiences minimal shrinkage.

It is water-based, so cleanup is easy and if it dries slightly in the container, it can be easily reconstituted with a little water. You can blend different colors of Timbermate together to create custom colors or it can be tinted with universal colorants – perfect if you need just a dab of a dark filler and don’t want to buy a whole jar.

Nail holes will dry in 30 minutes, 1/2″ holes 60 minutes.

Holes any larger than 1/2″: you should NOT be using filler for those!

We’ve included a photo that shows all the Timbermate woodfiller colors we carry side-by-side so you can see if this is the color for you. Don’t hesitate to choose the color called “white oak” if you think that will be a better match to the actual color of your floor, even if your floor is pine.

And even though we show four different jars in this photo, you won’t be getting four jars – this is just for comparison purposes!

Just a small warning: if you are filling wood that has significant tannins, especially oaks, please use a plastic tool. Timbermate is a waterbased product, and even the small amount of metal that scrapes off your spackle knife can create black or grey discoloration in and around the void you are trying to fill.
