Rubio Monocoat Renew is designed to take all the complexity out of maintaining your Rubio floors and surfaces.

Because Rubio surfaces are different. I know your love your vinegar solution or your bleach spray. And if you are cleaning your sink, those are great. But if you are using either of those on your Rubio, your are accelerating the breakdown of the waxes in the finish. Even just cleaning with water and recommended Rubio Soap eventually dries out your Rubio Surface. This is a good thing! It means you are keeping it clean. But once a year, as the Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C starts to look dry or feel rough, using Renew to restore that top protective layer will keep the surface in first-day condition.

Rubio Monocoat Renew is NOT a cleaner – please don’t use it every day. It is designed as part of your preventive maintenance approach to your floor. You want to refresh and restore your Monocoat surface while the original Rubio color is still intact. As long as you don’t see spots where the Rubio looks grey, or looks lighter than the surrounding floor, you know you have not started to expose bare wood. But if there are rough, “thirsty-looking” spots, it is time for a treatment with Renew.

What is best about Renew is that it refreshes and redistributes an existing Rubio coat of any color and it keeps the original matte sheen of Rubio. While you can restore Rubio with either Rubio Universal Maintenance Oil, or a booster coat of the Rubio Oil Plus 2C that was originally applied, both of those will leave the restored area shinier than the original finish. This can be problematic if you are spot-fixing your surface. But if you want to be able to refresh just your most heavily-used areas, Renew is your easy solution.

Remember, Renew should be used when the surface feels too dry or rough, or when the finish has worn down due to heavy use, but the original Rubio color is still intact.

But when the color of the surface needs to be restored, we recommend a renovation with Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C, using the corresponding color of the treated surface.
